STYLE NO. 2962 : Blacksmith

Famous for its clean lines, simple construction and classic round toe styling, the 2962 features Bourbon Yuma leather, a Nitrile Cork outsole, triple stitched quality and Goodyear welt construction.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

Versatile and reliable, this style of shoe was originally used in farm fields and blacksmith workshops during the day before being cleaned and shined up for a night out on the town. Today, the Blacksmith is built using premium Red Wing leathers and a durable Nitrile Cork sole. The extra height of this 6-inch style keeps out snow in the winter and dirt in the summer, while the classic construction keeps feet comfortable even after long hours of work.

Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 108+ year history.

STYLE NO. 2962 : Blacksmith

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 2962 is built using the No. 8 Last:

  • Features a bump toe for more room up-front
  • Fits a variety of foot shapes
  • Should be sized up ½ if used with a footbed or orthotic

Rated 5 out of 5 by Enough character to last a lifetime. I bought these boots about four months ago as a companion to my 8114s. Everything about them is beautiful. They fit very well and become more comfortable the more I wear them. I wear them three or four times a week, generally all day, and they remain comfortable. My favorite thing about them is the leather used on this boot. It has an incredible amount of character and Mink Oil is very kind to it. The subtle variations in color across the boot combined with the beautiful natural scarring on the leather make this a stunning piece of footwear! I am thrilled about the way the leather is evolving with use, and I've only had them for four months. I expect I will be wearing these for a very long time. October 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every penny. Had these for almost a year and wear them almost every day. They just keep getting better. First three weeks were difficult (due to break in), but after they were broken in they were perfect. Cannot recommend these enough and look forward to growing old with them! September 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent craftsmanship Quality materials you'll never find a better boot to wear. Well worth the money . Everything else is just a product promotion to sell their boots these boots are the real thing inside and out. For the serious chukka you can only find it in this boot. August 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is made of excellent materials and flawless workmanship You'll never find a better quality boot for your hard earned money. In today's shoe world it's hard to find a trust worthy product that bring long lasting quality and workmanship. You'll find that out in these boots. They wear like dress shoes or casual. One thing is for sure they will last because they are made of quality materials. Settle for the best. August 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shoes!!!! I am HARD on shoes! Have been through MANY pairs of dress shoes, casual shoes, etc. Have spent 300+ on shoes that were supposed to be “durable” and they were un-wearable in about 6 months. Issues with soles breaking down, leather stretching out … etc. (name your wear out complaint – I have had it...) Finally tried the Beckman Oxfords, and they are about 1 year old and going strong. For reference, I travel A LOT. 70% on the road with a mix of meetings and manufacturing plants for Automotive. Both component and vehicle assembly. I have problems with shoes being too soft, and this is not an issue with the Beckman’s. Great support, great durability, great looks. I have heard complaints about the break in period, but I found this to be less of a problem than with most dress shoes. Due to the thickness of the leather and the toe caps, the crease over the toe box is not as bad as some VERY expensive dress shoes I have had the misfortune to wear. Great on in the meeting room, shop floor, assembly plant, or casual with jeans (and my wife approves of the last one – which take a LOT!!). August 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Real Workhorse of a Dress Shoe I'm on my feet a lot, in a harsh environment for most dress shoe soles (patterned concrete), and in and out of an automotive service shop with ceramic tile floor. I bought two pair of these shoes - a Black pair, and the Antigue Cigar, so I wear each pair, every other day. After break-in, these are by far the most comfortable work shoes I have ever worn. I've been in the same shop 15 years, and have gone through a lot of other shoes. I've had these 3 years now, and have re-soled them each once, and had the sole on the heel replaced for wear on each another time each too, but I know I'll be wearing these shoes the rest of my working days. The higher chukka style adds ankle support that I can really appreciate after a long 11 hour day, and even more at the end of a 6-day week. They get complimented often, and to many, they look more like a boot than a shoe. Sturdy, and classy. Quality never goes out of style. August 15, 2014
