STYLE NO. 3341 : Blacksmith

Famous for its clean lines, simple construction and classic round toe styling, the 3341 features Charcoal Rough & Tough leather, a Vibram® 430 Mini-lug outsole, triple stitched quality and Goodyear welt construction.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

Versatile and reliable, this style of shoe was originally used in farm fields and blacksmith workshops during the day before being cleaned and shined up for a night out on the town. Today, the Blacksmith is built using premium Red Wing leathers and a durable Vibram® 430 Mini-lug outsole. The extra height of this 6-inch style keeps out snow in the winter and dirt in the summer, while the classic construction keeps feet comfortable even after long hours of work.

Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 108+ year history.

Rated 5 out of 5 by These boots are an investment in your lifetime foot wear inventory and will be a hardworking classic The first thing you notice when you unbox your boots it the strong smell of real quality leather. I was immediately in the mood for a good Maduro cigar and a glass of my favorite Islay whisky. Following that, you peel back the paper and see the true color of these boots in your chosen color. I picked copper rough and tough. The photos do not truly demonstrate it's color but, there are some hints of the color in the photos. It has a richness and variation of color that is amazing in person. Since most stores do not stock these, it is a bit of a leap of faith but, it is well worth it. I had to size them down one half of a size. They do not come in a wide width at this time and I measure for a wide shoe but, already on the second day, they were loosened up enough that I have no trouble now. I would recommend wearing them around the house one day with two pairs of socks on. You'll be surprised how quickly they break in if you don't mind doing that for a day. Based on the described construction of the boot, when you receive the box, you may be surprised that it doesn't weight several more pounds. It's not a very heavy boot even with the extra stitching and quality leather. Wearing it around the house and then later out on the street, it will continue to break in and loosen up. The break in is not bad at all. I would compare the break in to any other quality leather dress shoe that is American made. I felt an improvement in just a day and it will get better everyday for two weeks. The shape and style of the boot are clean and simple yet rugged. I believe this could easily sneak into a business casual realm if needed, especially on colder inclement days. The oil resistant soles have good traction on most surfaces so far. I have another pair of boots with deeper heavier tread for working around the house so, this pair probably wont see as much winter time work. They did get puked on by the kid last night and after that I walked through some mud right after getting out of the truck. It all seemed to wipe off and reminded me to invest in the protectant. I'll be ordering that soon. If you buy cheap boots that aren't real leather, crack, fall apart or generally wear out every year or two, I would advise you to take a trip to the store, make the investment now and after you break in your new boots, you can decide for yourself. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful colour At first I purchased the 3340, and even though it was a beautiful boot, I quickly exchanged it for the black spitfire. I was in love instantaneously, the colour and the leather finish on this boot make it my favourite boot, even better than the amber IR. I can wear it with anything, even in business attire. The very slight pain of the break-in period is a great beginning to what will undoubtedly be a long lasting relationship. Thank you for making this! December 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by gorgeous boot Another gorgeous Red Wing Heritage boot. The Black Spitfire is a rough-out which means the rough side is turned outwards. These are not as dressy as something like the black Beckham and are also a little harder to care for because you can't just slap polish down and buff them back. Still a beautiful boot if you want something black but with a rough finish when you get close. Note that this is a minilug design. I've look at this and the Roughneck side by side and the differences are that the Roughneck uses full-on Vibram sole whereas the minilug will wear more quickly--less sole--but produces a slimmer silhouette. Seems to me the BlackSmith is really a Roughneck with a slimmer sole. November 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect This is exactly what I wanted: a handmade in the USA all-leather boot that I can wear with winter dress clothes to work in colder weather and out and about with jeans or pants and casual clothes. This boot nails that look. The leather is so tough, supple, and amazing that you will want to go up into the mountains where the wind blows cold and build a leather cabin. This boot looks and feels better than you could ever expect. It will add length to your chest hair and your peers will immediately notice that you are serious about being a man than you ever have been before. This is the boot to wear if you like looking and feeling like a man. If you're going to wear rolled-up skinny jeans with these, yes, of course if will look good, but that's because the boot can pull it off, not because you have good style. Thankfully, I am enough of a man that I don't need to alter my lifestyle to wear these boots; they are just a perfect compliment to myself. If you don't already do masculine things like climb mountains, work on cars, or have rugged facial hair genetics, then you might need to consider how you will supplement your lifestyle once you start wearing these, because they will look out of place on you unless you can sand concrete smooth using the skin on your palms. After the world ends, when society has disintegrated into a primitive kingdom of ashes and ruin, you will be glad you own a pair of Red Wing's heritage boots, because not only will you become an apex face stomper, but you will do so in a classic American style. These boots will outlive you and define you. Make sure you get sized at a Red Wing store and order half a size smaller than your sizing. Perfect fit with medium-weight wool socks. Buy them. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great looking boot with good comfort Got these boots as a Christmas present. Fantastic craftsmanship. They run smaller as it seems most Red Wing boots do. I am normally a 11.5 and these boots are 10.5. The Briar Oil slick looks very nice. You can use these are dress shoes and work shoes. I highly recommend the simpler look of these. December 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Steal of a deal. Just picked up a pair of these for $70. Should last me a lifetime. October 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enough character to last a lifetime. I bought these boots about four months ago as a companion to my 8114s. Everything about them is beautiful. They fit very well and become more comfortable the more I wear them. I wear them three or four times a week, generally all day, and they remain comfortable. My favorite thing about them is the leather used on this boot. It has an incredible amount of character and Mink Oil is very kind to it. The subtle variations in color across the boot combined with the beautiful natural scarring on the leather make this a stunning piece of footwear! I am thrilled about the way the leather is evolving with use, and I've only had them for four months. I expect I will be wearing these for a very long time. October 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every penny. Had these for almost a year and wear them almost every day. They just keep getting better. First three weeks were difficult (due to break in), but after they were broken in they were perfect. Cannot recommend these enough and look forward to growing old with them! September 23, 2014
