STYLE NO. 875 : Classic Moc

Practically identical to the iconic 877, the 875 is simply a shorter iteration. It’s six inches of premium Red Wing Oro Legacy leather combined with Goodyear welt construction, a Traction Tred rubber outsole and triple stitched quality.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

Nothing says, “Red Wing”, like a moc toe boot with a white polyurethane outsole. It’s a style we started making in the 1950s for sportsmen but it worked equally well on farms and in factories due to that Traction Tred sole with its minimal tread that sheds mud and provides the underfoot comfort the work day required. The crescent-shaped stitching on the toe was inspired by the construction of the shoes, or “moccasins” originally worn by the North American Algonquin Indians. Our Classic Moc Toe boots have since become a legend.

Oil Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 108+ year history.

STYLE NO. 875 : Classic Moc

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 875 is built using the No. 23 Last:

  • Was created in the 1950s and is Red Wing’s most iconic last
  • Includes extra room in the forefoot and instep for easy entry
  • Fits a variety of foot shapes
  • Fits ½ size large

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plain discomfort. The boots fit ok, no problem and as expected for the size that I usually use. Correct size and shape etc'. The issue is with the seams on the inside that run downward to attach the upper to the sole around the instep. It is so thick and not helped by a lack of cover, almost unfinished, I'd say. It digs into both sides of the foot on both boots. I don't have wide feet, so that aint the issue. It is not through lack of break in or incorrect fit, as the rest of the boots are soft and supple already after wear through one month or so, day in and out. The insoles supplied, although nicely made etc' only serve to make the matter worse. The soles show signs of heavy wear. After a month? Pathetic. Water readily reaches the inner of the boot walking in anything more than damp grass (fancy welt and leather or not). So to sum up, probably the worst pair of boots I've had (very pretty though, people think). Uncomfortable, total waste of £279. I have had work boots for a fraction of the price that have caused no problem. To be honest, the price I'll take on the chin but the alleged brand's trumpet and fanfare I won't. In plain English, rubbish. No, I haven't taken them back to the shop for explanations and blah, as I bought them online. Redwing, feel free to comment please and redeem yourselves. I don't particularly want anyone else's quick fixes or contradictions to what I have just said. Sadly, It's fact. Ian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot replaced all my other boots ! What can I say about these boots, they are just great, worried about spending €299.00 on a pair of boots, but, took a bit of breaking in but 2 months on they are almost perfect, the leather is so supple, comfortable all day, day after day, look very cool and the leather is now showing some signs of patina.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from only boot to trust on high steel! Been wearing these boots for over 45 years. As a young bolt punk, these shoes gave me a bit of confidence to climb out on a sunshade 340 feet above Manhattan sidewalks. Left the irownworker's trade when my knee gave out. Stuck with these shoes until I retired 4 years ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best boot period I have to say wether on a plane or under the truck, this boot has you covered. After the break in period was over I found myself coming home from work and wearing them till bed time. I used to change shoes or take off my work shoes immediately after walking in my door. Just love em. Worn for four years now and recrafted after 3. I have to say the tread wears fast but the soft sole is part of what I love. No fatigue from hours of working on concrete. Also, the leather darkens a lot. You must keep these things oiled and that is just part of the deal. You be nice to them and you will have great boots for as long as you care to wear them. High cost up front but it pays off fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8804 / 8131 UK based, have had pairs of the 8804's for 20-25 years: never them thrown away, in the hope that, like a cryogenics fan, some day in the UK I will be able to bring them back to life (i.e. re sole them). Have watched brand's UK resurgence amongst a younger generation with amusement and veneration. Great boots. Great job. But SORT OUT THE SUPER SOLE SITUATION!! Gave worn out pair of 8804's to charity shop (Sad day. Good deed). Have four pairs left, plus one pair 8131's (having thrown out a pair or two). Older they look more snug the fit. Red Wing, please help . . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes time to break in, but once you do, you instantly want to buy another pair. For first time Red Wing people; it takes time to break them in and some are easier than others. But once you break them in, you will become a convert. Buy a bit snug as over time they will stretch and conform to your foot perfectly. They truely are great shoes, and take care of them because they will last forever. It's also more conducive to how we should naturally walk, barefoot, you feet will become stronger and less injury prone. Stick with it, you won't regret it!
