STYLE NO. 9048 : Beckman Chukka

Part of the Beckman collection, the 9048 is a chukka style shoe made from our exclusive Teak Featherstone dress leather. Lightweight, durable and classic in look, a bit of polish keeps them looking sharp.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

In 1905, when businessman Charles Beckman couldn’t find boots to wear in Red Wing’s muddy streets that matched his merchant status, he decided to start his own shoe company, naming it for the town itself. We’ve reserved the Beckman name for our most refined shoes, which reflect the spirit of our founder, who valued the best materials, quality craftsmanship and a versatility to go effortlessly from muddy streets to office.

Full finished leathers have a smooth, polished surface that enhances the natural beauty of the leather. Full finished leathers have a smooth, polished surface that enhances the natural beauty of the leather.

Smooth-Finished Leather

Smooth-Finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft Smooth-Finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the Smooth-Finished leather requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.

STYLE NO. 9048 : Beckman Chukka

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage chukkas should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 9048 is built using the No. 210 Last:

  • Was designed for increased flexibility and lighter duty work
  • Most customers buy Red Wing Heritage footwear 1/2 size smaller than their normal size
  • Trying on Red Wing Heritage footwear in a store is recommended to get the perfect fit

PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT

Red Wing's sturdy soles, premium leathers, triple stitching and Goodyear welt construction all work together to make quality boots that will last a lifetime. It takes more than 230 steps to hand craft each pair of Red Wing Shoes but it only takes three steps to keep them clean, conditioned and protected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ugly and Uncomfortable! Returned! I purchased these as a casual boot and although they felt fine in the store, once I walked around my home with them, they were very uncomfortable and it felt like I was walking on concrete. Also, my wife came home and saw them and told me they were the ugliest shoes she has ever seen. My wife works in fashion so she knows what looks good and what doesn't. Needless to say, I returned these the next day. Uncomfortable AND ugly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and Comfortable Very sharp looking boot that looks great with everything from a suit to jeans. Very comfortable right away so no break-in time was really necessary and I know they'll only get better. I usually size down 1/2 on Red Wings but I got my usual Brannock size on this boot and the fit is perfect. Looking forward to having these for a very long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL VERSION. THE ORIGINIAL BECKMAN WAS SUPERIOR. I GIVE THAT A 5 Have the original. Excellent boot - durable, classic and extremely comfortable. New version - no leather heal with rubber heal attached - new one is all rubber- is not as appealing nor does it appear as well made. Material appears not the same - though price is the same. Heal is lower. I found a new in the box pair of the original on Amazon and I intend to buy that pair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'll never buy these again I bought Beckman 9032, which evidently is no longer carried. It has only two eyes, instead of three, but is virtually the same. I've had them for over a year, and they are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned. Still stiff after all this time, still squeak with every step. After having paid so much for them I am reluctant to quit wearing them, but they are not fun to wear, in the least. I have started wearing them some as work boots in the hope they will get better, but no such luck so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is very very stiff but the sole is the killer to my feet. Walking on granite The Chukka I bought in black, love the look and for the most part workmanship. However, the back right heel the brown sole lightens up due to you driving your car and setting down on floor mat. No problem with left side just right it essentially lightens the heel where the sole and heel meet.I have to use brown polish each time to correct. ALSO, these boots wear really really hard. My feet kill me when I wear them and can't really wear all day. It is like walking on granite. I put inserts in but that causes the boots to wear too tight so my feet ache and circulation is no good. I love them but my feet don't and hopefully the store can help me out. I would recommend if your feet can handle them but for the cost one should be able to wear comfortably all day so be aware!!!!!They run to the smaller side on length not sure why summary shows otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Chukka I asked some questions of other reviewers and never received answers so I'll answer those now, in case anyone's interested. Are they all day long comfortable? Are they worth 4 large $? Are they as sexy as they look? Do they require an insert to increase comfort? Answers: Yes, yes, yes and for me....yes. I loved everything about this shoe immediately. I've worn them all day long, 6 days a week since receiving them about a month ago. Regarding the footbeds, I'll share my Iron Ranger story. After being sized for my Iron Rangers, my foot called for a size 10 (which is my typical sneaker shoe size). This was too big, as was a 9.5 Size 9 was just right (my normal Cowboy boot size) and seemed to go along with the reviews regarding size (order 1 size down). I've never had any issues with countless other shoe/boot purchases, certainly never thought I had any arch issues but...... While the correct size, they were not comfortable. I made the 4 hour drive back to the only Heritage dealer in my area, and was informed that my arches needed a foot bed to improve comfort. She sold me the red/blue one which was indeed made them much more comfortable to wear......until I tried to wear them for more than a couple of hours. Much too tight! I made yet another trip back and was told by a different salesperson that the Heritage Collection called for a different footbed and I bought those. Not nearly as comfortable as the red/blue ones, and still too tight! Another trip back where they were stretched. Still too tight. They sit in my closet, with just a few hours of use. This process took place aver about 6 months, Fast forward to when I emailed customer support for advice after telling them of my previous experience. She recommended ordering my normal size if I planned on needing a footbed. I ordered a size 10 (Normal shoe size) and the ComfortForce footbeds. Peeeeerfect! I love these. Happy Ending!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great investment. I own multiple pairs of red wing heritage and I have to say all have served me well. These are the newer version using the 210 last which comes to more of a pointed end verses the older version being more rounded. I think these have more of a dress shoe shape which I am liking. They look, feel, and smell like quality. Some people have been claiming the oxford version of this shoe is inferior to its rounder predecessor but I disagree. However I will say they are not giving them away at this new higher price point but get you what you pay for.
