STYLE NO. 3302 : Weekender Oxford

The 3302 is an oxford featuring Hawthorne Muleskinner leather, crafted with our traditional Red Wing Quality, and inspired by our tried-and-true oxford silhouettes.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

The Weekender is an off-the-clock shoe that can stand up to adventure while still keeping things dialed down. The oxford and chukka styles were designed from the ground up to be light and comfortable right out of the box, with or without socks. But light doesn't mean the Weekenders are lightweights. They're made alongside our other boots at Plant 2 in Red Wing, Minnesota, with durable leather sourced from our S.B. Foot Tanning Company and a stitch-down construction that can be resoled for many years of faithful service. Weekenders let you play as hard as you work. You might even be tempted to keep them on come Monday.

Roughout leather is a reverse suede leather made in our S.B. Foot tannery. Roughout leather is a reverse suede leather made in our S.B. Foot tannery.

Roughout Leather

Roughout leather is created using a reverse-suede technique at our very own S.B. Foot Tanning Co. While most tanneries split, thin and weaken the hide to create the rough suede surface, we simply use the other side of the hide. By doing so, we avoid splitting or thinning our full-grain hides. This makes our Roughout leather just as strong and durable as our other leathers.

STYLE NO. 3302 : Weekender Oxford

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes.

The 3302 is built using the No. 60 Last:

  • This new last is created for the Weekender collection, stitch down construction
  • The last is designed to have a removable footbed
  • Most customers buy Red Wing Heritage footwear 1/2 size smaller than their normal size
  • Trying on Red Wing Heritage footwear in a store is recommended to get the perfect fit

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs long I’m always an 11.5. I was measured at my local store as an 11.5D on both feet. I went with a 10.5 and the size is about right. I could have possibly went down another .5. Width is spot on. There is not much break in with this show compared to my other red wings. They’re comfy after a couple hours of wear. There are no eyelets on these shoes. But that’s an easy fix. Lowe’s sells an Arrow eyelet tool with eyelets for $5. I’ve never put in eyelets before, so I was a bit hesitant to put them on myself but it was easy. Don’t let the lack of eyelets deter you from these shoes. To Red Wing; when you write a review, the length is messed up. You put the length dot to the left when writing a review for it runs big but when you post it ends up saying it runs small. Your review length label is backwards. I kept wondering why people would say it runs long in the review but the length icon would always say runs small.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent, but careful with sizing Just a head's up - these run very long. For reference, I normally wear a size 11/11.5 sneaker. I own a pair of Iron Rangers in 10.5 that fit perfectly, so I read reviews on the Weekenders and ended up getting a pair in size 10. I probably should've got a 9.5 or even a 9. Unfortunately, they are too long which causes the heel to move around and blisters on my feet. Plus, the toe box is long and narrow, and the ankle is cut low too which doesn't help. Otherwise, the construction seems solid, the soft leather is already somewhat broken in out of the box, and they look great. I wish I had sized down earlier but it's too late now to exchange. Other than the weird fit, if I had the proper size I'd probably have a much more favorable review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice shoe, buy eyelets are disappointing Be aware that these shoes run big. I measure 10 (left foot) and 9.5 (right foot) and D width on the brannock device. My 8111 Iron Rangers are size 9 and fit well. Bought the 3302 weekenders in size 9 as well and they fit a little tighter than my Iron Rangers but that's just good I think. Order half a size or a full size down. If you have a high instep, try the shoes before you buy them. I don't have a high instep but I can see how it could be a problem for some people, the shoes are quite low. The included comfort force footbed is great, have it in my IRs as well. Eyelets are not reinforced and will stretch really quickly (like in less than an hour). I will get mine reinforced before wearing the boots.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality and fit I am a big Red Wing fan but these shoes are not on par with the quality of their other products. The shoes looked great and fit well out of the box but the eyelets are not reinforced and they stretch out with every wear. As a result, just when the shoes are fitting great the eyelets stretch a bit more and the fit becomes loose. On a more positive note I contacted Red Wing and they agreed to take them back under warranty and I exchanged them (plus $50) for a pair of the new Postman Oxford 3118 (with metal reinforced eyelets) and I am happily breaking them in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Look, Great Comfort... but Size EE-ers beware Overall, this is an amazing buy for anyone looking for a slighlty classier alternative to wearing a boot or sneaker; perfect for a night out whether one is wearing denim or khakis. In regards to comfort, it truly is a "Weekender;" With the soft leather and a forgiving sole, one can wear this pair all day whether work or play, and not be itching to kick them off at the day's end. However, those who have a wide foot and/or are in between sizes will have some difficulty with the sizing when purchasing and wearing these shoes. Given how the shoe's typical fit and a wider foot, in my experience it was best to buy a 1.2 size larger and make up the difference by using an additional footbed. My main issue with the shoe is with the size of the opening or topline of the shoe; it appears to be too large. Wheareas the rest of the shoe fits snugingly well, there is some space between the ankle and the rear of the shoe's topline. This can pose to be problematic when wearing a slimmer pant with a narrower leg opening as the cuff of the pant leg gets snagged on the heel of the shoe. In my experience, I am consistently having to pull back my pant legs to ensure the pant falls over the shoe, not snagged up at the heel. I'm unsure if traditional Size D men share a similar problem, but it is significant enough for me to consider other shoe options when wearing pants of a more tailored fit. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product, but hope the great craftsmen of Red Wing make note of this experienced issue and take it into consideration in the future. Nonetheless, I recommend these shoes and believe it makes for a great addition to any man's wardrobe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it once quality As always Red Wing delivers a high quality product. I wanted something dressier than sneakers and boots but more casual than dress shoes, and these shoes are it! This is a product that I expect to last for years and when I eventually do wear them out I won't hesitate to buy again. My only grievance is they do run long, so buy a half size up. All in all these shoes are awesome and I will continue to buy Red Wing products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe but really long I'd been searching for a new durable "work to play" type shoe and I believe I've found it. Great looking shoe and it should hold up. These run really long though. I would take the smallest size you usually get and drop another half inch from it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid shoe Overall solid shoe. I will say an obvious weak point is the fact that eyelets for the shoe strings aren't installed on the weekender model shoes. A little annoying considering I've owned the oxfords for a little over a week now and the shoe string holes are stretching out. I will install metal eyelets myself as I do not want to waste 220 dollars on a shoe with ripped eyelet holes. Kind of disappointed in that part of the shoe's structure. Hate to come off negative but even cheap 20 dollar shoes come with metal eyelet holes.
