STYLE NO. 875 : Classic Moc

The 6-inch Classic Moc is synonymous with Red Wing Heritage. The boot’s unmistakable moc toe and Traction Tred outsole form a silhouette that sets the standard by which all others are measured.

We began making moc-toe boots in the 1950s for sportsmen. Farm and factory workers quickly took to the boots for their all-day comfort and lasting durability. The crescent-shaped toe stitching is inspired by the construction of moccasins originally worn by the North American Algonquin Indians. Our Classic Moc Toes have since become a legend.

Oil Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 108+ year history.

STYLE NO. 875 : Classic Moc

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 875 is built using the No. 23 Last:

  • Was created in the 1950s and is Red Wing’s most iconic last
  • Includes extra room in the forefoot and instep for easy entry
  • Fits a variety of foot shapes
  • Fits ½ size large

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing boots when sized correctly! The 1907s and the 8883s are built on the 45 last (shape of boots) which is wider in width than the popular 875s which are on the 23 last (narrower width). The 1907s and 8883s comes with an additional removable leather insole (875s or other 23 lasts does not). Though wider the leather insole of the 1907 and 8883s takes up room in the height of the boots making the 1907 and 8883s boot true to size for most. Boot last can be found by scrolling down and clicking “size and break in”. Normal width feet: 23 last, ½ size down. 45 last that has leather insole, true to size. Slightly wide to wide feet: 23 last you may get away with sizing down 1 full size and E width as the 23 last are a narrow but also longer fit. The fit is narrow that choosing the wider EE looks normal and the length is longer where the 1 full size down may make sense. 45 lasts does not come in wide E sizes but it’s already a wider cut boot. Go true to size, if you still need extra width remove the leather insole. For most 1 foot is slightly larger than the other. Size for that larger foot not the smaller. This information takes into account using medium weight wool socks {darn tough(brand) light cushion or cushioned (thickness), micro crew (height) socks recommended}. Amazing boots over all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The break in was worth it Keep hitting them up with mink oil to help the breaking process. Now it feels like the leather hugs my feet. Keep them clean and oiled. Take care of them cause they will take care of you. Get the leather laces also and hit them with mink oil

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Classic! Excellently crafted boot, made with very high quality leather. I love the weight and balance in how the boots wear and they support my feet very well. Runs slightly big, so my boot is a 1/2 size down from normal. As many have said, these books do require quite a bit of break in. No way around it . . . if you want them to be yours (and custom to you), you gotta put them on (with some medium to heavy socks), lace them up tight and wear them. Period! General break in for me was about three weeks. After that I wore them every day, all day, for a month on a trip to Europe (more than 120 miles walked in them in urban areas). Yes . . . I took a bit of pain, but now they are like buttah! The boots have nicely molded to my feet and are super comfy. Key . . . Make the investment of time and wear the boots to make them your own! Upkeep is fairly easy. Just make sure that you have a good brush on hand to clean the edges of the crepe sole. It is important to keep them clean and conditioned. This will help with how the boots age and to avoid cracking. Crepe sole will wear over time, based on how you wear them. I wear these mainly for fashion with denim, so I added clear heel protectors to prevent outside heel run-over. Personal preference, of course. Red wing, as well well as others, have great videos on boot care and maintenance. I'm loving this boot and will be adding other colors (next the blue) to the collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best.Boot.Ever I spent all summer breaking in my pair, and I have to be honest, I thought my feet would break first. I had to wear them for a limited time, each day, but through fall and winter, I am wearing them daily and have never loved a pair of shoes more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looks, Good fit, Good Boots I'm about a month in on a pair of 875's. As others note, the first few days were not the most comfortable. But that's over now and they just keep getting better. I applied a heavy coat of mink oil and warmed with lovey's hair dryer to get it to soak in before I ever put them on. They look and feel great. If there was one thing I would change it would be to add a pull tab on the heel. I still struggle a bit to get them on. Other than that they are perfect. I did buy in a store so got to try them on before purchase. Normally wear a 12 1/2 wide. 12 EE is perfect fit for me. Been a while since I've had Red Wings, but won't be without them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super-high-grade leather, very comfortable on ankles I've wanted a boot with true ankle support, but not one that would chafe or bite into my skin. These do the trick admirably. They feel almost like they're made of glove leather around my ankle, but can be tightened up to really strengthen the ankle. Very quick break-in, just a couple days of wearing. Great sole as well, not woody and not squishy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 875's I have always wanted a pair of high end boots that will last me a lifetime. The classic 875's meets that want. Super comfortable right away. Since this is my first pair, there is significant soreness above my ankles where the top seam rubs on my legs even with thick socks. Any advice from anyone on how to alleviate that?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very durable leather I wear the 875s for work (soft toe). They are a little tough to break in but they are a great work boot. I wear them hiking out in the bush with my dog and everyday to work. Its been over almost a year and all the stitching and leather is holding up great!almost looking brand new minus the stains. Only downside is the sole wore out on me in about 4months of everyday work use as an Ironworker. Resoled them at a local shoe store. Great quality in leather work. + I oil them with mink oil 1x a week

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best investment I’ve ever made. My Red Wing boots are the best pair of shoes/boots I’ve ever bought. If your iffy about spending the money on them, don’t be. They will last you for ever. If you take care of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size Red Wing Moc Toe 875 I read most of the comments posted here the indication to buy a number less or half a number less. I believe this comment is valid for those who wear a lot of tennis and not boots. I use a lot of boots and I've always used the number 8.5. When I went to buy the red wing I was afraid to follow this guidance and bought 8.5 same. I even tried out an 875 number 8 and would never use it. Very, very tight. I have 3 Red Wings (875, 8138, 1907) 8.5 which is my numbering and no problem at all. I repeat, if you wear a lot of tennis shoes: the indication of lowering a number or a half number may be helpful. If you wear too many boots, I believe you can use the same numbering.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 875 This boot is tougher to break in, and the 'wide' size is much narrower than the other wide fit boots. If you want the moc boot with a wide fit, please try the Moc 8138, much softer and wider …..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soles wear to quick I love red wings and have bought them since 2008. These heritage are the comfiest. The only bad thing is for close to 300.00 the tread wear out to fast at least for me in 10 months then become uncomfortable. I wish they last longer and maybe going to try another brand

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable Red Wings I own I have 5 pair of Red Wing Boots. The hardest to break in are the Beckmans. The Iron Rangers are fine. I was told to expect a long break in from these 875's but even if the leather isn't as soft as it will be, right out of the box they were really comfortable. I bought my exact size boot (11 D) and they fit perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From work boot to everyday shoe I have had these boots for about 10 months. So I first started off hating this boot. I normally wear EE width but the salesman said this shoe will stretch. My feet were so tight in this boot. I bought these boots for work boots as I work in the field. It hurt for a couple weeks but sure enough, they did start to stretch. Overall, it took almost two months before this boot fit perfectly. Now I'm glad I didn't go up in width because my toes and feet have a lot of room in them. I do not wear the included leather insoles, and this was also part of the break in. Now I have a perfectly molded insole. I stand up a lot for work, ten hours a day and in the beginning I really questioned my purchase, but now they are absolutely comfortable. Well, my employer is now having us wear steel toed boots, so I had to start using these moc toe boots as a shoe. They look good as an every day shoe! The crepe sole wears out fast! I will have to replace them very soon. I used to wear these every day at work, but now I wear them every day at home! They look to me like a high-end high top shoe actually, but way nicer. I ended up just getting another pair of Pecos steel toed work boots, my third pair ever. My last pair is 8 years old and my feet must be growing or something because my feet are wider and while they fit ok, as much as I'm on my feet, they aren't comfortable enough so I had to get a new boot, but after 8 years, they certainly paid for themselves many times over and are good enough for yard work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The sizing has changed I've worn a pair of 875's for more than 5 years and a pair of 8138's for at least 3 years. My current pair of 875's are on their third sole and the leather is starting to show it's age. I decided to buy a new pair recently and was sad to see that Red Wing has changed their sizing. Both of my old boots are size 9.5 EE, but when ordering my new ones I had to keep sending them back because they were too long. Ultimately, I landed on size 8.5 EE (I normally where a 10.5 in most other brands). The worst thing about the change in sizing is that the new boots are noticeably more narrow than my old ones. This is a real problem for anyone with wide feet. I can immediately feel my pinky toes getting squished in the toe box. I'm going to have them stretched in the hopes that they will work but I'm disappointed that an already narrow and oversized boot has been further elongated and reduced in width. Also, I had hoped that buying an American made heritage brand, I could count on a consistent quality product. Apparently that is not the case. It's sad because these are very well made boots, but the sizing inconsistencies over time make it hard to recommend to anyone that might choose this brand for life, like I had hoped to.
