"Tramping through the woods, camping, touring and other activities are now part of the recreation of nearly every woman and this new freedom has created a demand for a serviceable attractive boot." from a Red Wing poster, 1938. STYLE NO. 3386 : Gloria
Inspired by the original 1926 “Gloria” boot, Red Wing’s first boot for women. This modern interpretation features a genuine leather-stacked heel, a three-quarter Goodyear welt, and showcases premium Red Wing Mahogany Oro-iginal leather.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
The Gloria debuted in the 1926 catalog as a camping, hunting and touring boot for women. "With the popularity of knickers, and masculine manners, a pair of boots has become almost a necessary part of the fitments of girls' and women's wardrobes."
Oil Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.
S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 108+ year history.

In order to build a Red Wing boot to an exact size and width, the boot is constructed around a shoe last.

Obsessed.I was smitten by these boots from the moment I saw them. Gorgeous, thick (but not overly heavy) leather, solid fit, perfect heel for walking, wonderfully cushioned insole. These were comfortable straight from the box. I love them over skinny jeans, under cropped, wide-leg pants, and even with skirts. These will be favorites for many years. Love.

A Worthy InvestmentDo not shy away from the price tag on these breath-taking boots. As most gals know, you can set your clocks by fall boot-buying time. Each year new styles come out, and each year we wear through our latest pairs before the winter season is even over. This will never be the case with the Gloria. Not only are the style of these stompers a refreshing tall glass of water, but they are also built tough. They are absolutely fantastic for application to motorcycle riding, and would not hesitate for a moment to wear these boots on a road trip, regardless of weather or terrain.
Off the bike, the Gloria are a standalone fashion statement. You need little else to stand apart from a crowd in these boots no matter what your personal style. However, it should be noted that these boots will take some time to properly break-in. Plan on wearing them in small doses for the first few weeks. It is well worth the wait, as they are like butter on your lil' tootsies once they are properly worn in. A wise investment.

Well worth the investmentThese boots are show stoppers! I was on the fence about whether to purchase the mahogany or black, and decided to invest in a pair of mahogany gloria boots (I personally liked the way that color wears down after time). I just received them last week and I am incredibly impressed with the quality and comfort. My first time wearing them was for 12+ hours at an outdoor festival and aside from all the comments I received, I also felt 100% confident wearing such a striking boot. These do require a little breaking in, as most high quality boots will. However, they have already started to mold to the fit of my foot after only 3 wears.
The style has a lot of 60's boho vintage vibes and looks lovely with jeans or high socks and a dress. The lace up style allows for a range of calf sizes too (another concern of mine because I have small ankles/calves and generally this style of boot doesn't look good on me).
