STYLE NO. 9011 : Beckman Round

Part of the Beckman collection, the 9011 is a 6-Inch, round toe style boot made from our exclusive Black Cherry Featherstone dress leather. Classic in look, a bit of polish keeps them looking sharp.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

In the early twentieth century, Red Wing, Minnesota had only a few dirt roads. In the winter, or after a good rain, those streets would get muddy, making a good pair of boots a necessity. But our founder, Charles Beckman, a respectable businessman, wanted a pair he could brush off and wear right into his shoe store on Main Street. So that’s what his Red Wing Shoe Company made—sturdy, versatile footwear that could take some abuse and still look good. And that’s the kind of shoes and boots we’ve been making ever since.

Full finished leathers have a smooth, polished surface that enhances the natural beauty of the leather. Full finished leathers have a smooth, polished surface that enhances the natural beauty of the leather.

Smooth-Finished Leather

Smooth-Finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft Smooth-Finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the Smooth-Finished leather requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.

The 9011 is built using the No. 8 Last:

  • Features a bump toe for more room up-front
  • Fits a variety of foot shapes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You want quality boots, buy these Bought these on impulse. So glad I did! They are tough to break in, took about 4 months. You want quality boots, pay the money. You get what you pay for. These aren’t short on looks and are great to walk in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fanatic! First Time Buying Expensive Boots But Very Happy With Them (I got the wrong size) After hours of research and looking at different brands, I finally settled on the Red Wing Beckman. I caught it on sale on a different site, but they only had a half size down from my true size. I'm a size 8 in tennis shoes and I read that you would have to go down a full/half size. Nonetheless, I bit the bullet and gave it a shot. Loved the packaging. Right off the bat, the boots felt like quality. Thick, heavy leather and gave a sturdy feel. Pro-tip, don't tie the boot until you have it on. I found out the hard way that it was a tight fit getting in when it's laced up the first time. Standing in it, it was uncomfortable but wasn't too bad. It was to be expected since these need to be broken in. I had thin socks on at first and I had plenty of toe room. I wish I was able to get a 7, but the site sales were final. With thicker socks, they fit nice and snug but still had a bit too much toe room. Not a deal breaker. The first day in them, I walked the mall with my gf for 4 straight hours. Terrible feeling. My feet were KILLING me. However, it was well worth it. Once the leather insole started to form to my feet, it was super comfortable. Honestly, it took about a week to break in. Not so bad! Absolutely love them now. Just a TAD bit of heel slip, but I think it's because I got the wrong size. I haven't slipped at all, either. And it's been raining a lot in Houston, lately. They get dusty with wear, so make sure to grab a horse hair brush! Condition and clean them every few months as well. The boot was a little redder than I expected, but it wasn't a problem. Finding a matching belt was and watch strap was. Overall, great quality boots. Red Wing has impressed me. I look forward to buying the Iron Rangers in the future whenever I get more cash. But this time, in a full size down. Highly Recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough at first, but overall a fantastic boot. Runs big and narrow. This is my first red wing boot and I am extremely happy with my choice. I had a pair of blacksmiths that I did really like (New Prairie leather in black, looks SHARP btw), but ended up returning them for the beckman in black (9414 with cream stitching). When I first got the boots, I was amazed at the difference in quality between the blacksmith and these. The Beckman just felt like a better made boot with much nicer leather. Does not make the blacksmiths bad at all, but comparing them next to each other, you can really tell which is the more expensive boot. Its a solid made product. Its very well stitched and the leather is top notch. The leather on these will take a shine very easily, which makes them very versatile. You can use just the "Boot Cream" which will not give it a shine or use the "Boot Polish" which will. I have been using the Boot Polish myself and have had amazing results. I highly suggest that you pick that up if you plan on going more formal with the boots. The break in period is rough, there was NO pain, but a few hot spots that lasts about 4-5 days (8-9 hour a day wearing). I normally wear a 10.5 in sneakers, 10 in dress shoes and tried a 10 at first. There was ample amount of room in the toe box, which allowed me to fully wiggle my toes freely. I also tried a 9.5 and ended up going with that size. I had enough room for a toe wiggle, but it was very tight at first. I do believe that these are narrow for a D width, but the leather WILL stretch. I stuffed the boots at night with some old shirts to widen the boot to comfortably fit my foot. I am just a hair under an E width, but normally with any leather shoes, I buy a D and break them in. I noticed that I really like the arch support that tight shoes give me (From football days when your feet/ankles were wrapped) once broken in. These were no different. I am very happy with the boots after about 1 week of breaking in. In that 1 week, I wore them every other day (give time between to air out) and I can honestly say, minus a tad bit of heel slip (fixed by lacing the Heel lock style) they are very close to being fully broken in. I did polish them once and I have brushed them after each wear. If I had any advise, it would be to try 1 full size down and also a 1/2 size down. If you plan on using insoles, I would only go 1/2 size down to give you more room inside. If not (I do not), I would go 1 full size down. The comfort is not pleasant at first. Its very stiff, very unforgiving. Not only the leather, but the sole as well. However, after about 2 days of wearing, the insoles will start to shape to your foot and it will ease up. Mine is still pretty hard, but you will start to noticed it conforming after a couple of days. I wore some thick hiking socks for the first couple of days to give it a nice stretch. I am currently wearing it with my normal every day sock and its a perfect fit. I have the 9414 as well, which according to Redwing, the only difference is that the 9414 says "Vibram" on the bottom of the shoe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product overall Overall excellent boot and I am very happy with my purchase. This is a five star quality product, 4 stars because of the break in period. I purchased in a RW store and was fitted by RW employee. Was advised to purchase 1/2 size small to allow for stretch during break in period. I have owned for 1 year now and boots fit great. I would estimate 120-160 hours to break in these boots. Started by wearing an hour or two, then 1/2 days at work. I would switch boots at lunch time. Then full days to unlimited wearing. These boots are stiff leather out of box. My boots generally last me 10-12 years and go thru several sets of soles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Solid material, average build quality, good fit, uncomfortable overall I’ve had the Beckman cigar for 2 years now. They were purchased at a Redwing store and I was fitted for them as per the recommendation. In that time the leather has held up quite well and is resistant to environmental damage with minimal care. They have not seen any snowy NYC winter weather, but have seen everything else the tristate can throw at it and held up quite nicely. The soles are very durable in spite of the wear, though the welt where it meets the heel continues to come up over time(for lack of a better description). Though not obvious to anyone looking at shoes while worn, it is disappointing for the cost of shoe and considering the Redwing reputation. As for how they feel when worn. The break in period was miserable. I could not wear and walk in these shoes for more than 1 hour, so my break in consisted of wearing them around house and neighborhood for two weeks. This was still a very uncomfortable experience and the shoes continued to be uncomfortable to wear, let alone walk in. There were hot spots and rubbing in the toes, heel and around ankle. I eventually took some Redwing leather conditioner to boots, then just sucked it up for a few days and wore them with thick socks to break them in. Boots eventually could be worn without issue or need for thick socks, though continue to be uncomfortable if worn all day. I recently took them on a 4 day trip, along with a pair of sneakers. I had two days of back to back meetings and metropolitan commuting(walking and mass transit). My feet at the end of the first day were very worn and tired. By the end of second day, I was limping and it took a week for my feet to feel better. For someone who grew up in NYC wearing chucks and at times. the least supportive of shoes to walk for miles, this was surprising. I have never had shoes leave my feet feel this battered, let alone quality shoes/boots. While they are beautiful and I continue to be complimented on them, I do not recommend them for anyone looking for a pair of boots that will see high mileage in a single use or long periods of wear in a day. These are closer to cosmetic attire meant to look the part for short periods of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very nice boot. I finally got around to purchasing these and I am pleased with them. I must say this is a great-looking & well made product. But, it had better be - for the price of $350+ ! I have already received a number of compliments about them. I am a size 9.5 EE and purchased this boot in 9 EE (9E2): they seem to run a bit long. I need to wear a bulky sock when wearing these boots because of the extra room, and then they fit my feet perfectly. These are not typical work boots. The inside of the boot is not a smooth finished leather, except for the part directly under the wearer's feet. So it takes a little extra effort to slip your feet in and out of them. I can see that eventually, the inside will become smoother just from wearing them. The outer sole of the boot is the only component that comes from outside the USA and it is very rigid. However, after just 2 days of wearing them, I have gotten used to it and perhaps the sole is breaking in just a bit. I am noticing that the upper portion of the boot is beginning to take on the shape of my ankle area and foot. The only uncomfortable thing I have experienced is the very top of the boot above the laces. Unlike most work boots, there is no soft padded section at the top. I might be worsening the situation because I prefer to lace up tightly. I expect this discomfort will go away as the break-in process goes on. I am very pleased to be able to purchase high quality footwear that is actually made in the USA, and I hope Red Wing continues to stay in business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the break-in period I heard these would be tough...and they were. But after a few weeks of constant wear, they are as comfortable as an old pair of loafers. Great boot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best boot I have ever owned. I have worn Red Wing boots ever since I was fourteen years old. My Father always told me never wear cheap boots or you will pay for it. As I was coming up becoming a man I actually learned the hard way. So I have been true and blue to Red Wing ever since. The Knoxville TN store is where I have shopped exclusively since 2002. I have worn 1171 pull on's for years. Besides the Beckman they are a wonderful pair of work boots. I am a crane operator and I remember in my apprenticeship my Senior Operators would be dresses to the Nines and the prettiest shiniest boots to match. Finally in 2016 I bought a pair of Beckmans. They were heaven on my feet. Heck I wouldn't even drive in them. I bought them from Red Wing of Knoxville. Unfortunately I was involved in an auto accident where the car flipped 3 times and my heavenly Beckman's were in the trunk. The car was trashed and even the insurance company tried to get to the boots because thats all I was worried about. Long story short, and I can't speak for the rest of the Heritage Line because I am not rich, But if they put the work and care into all of the Heritage Line you can't go wrong. The Beckman's were the best pair of boots I have ever owned. No break in period. They fit like a glove out of the box and the leather is very supple. Please have no reserves about buying this boot. I'm am currently trying to save up to get another pair or maybe try the Iron Ranger to try the tread. Trust guys you won't be disappointed. Oh and hey and I am not affiliated with Red Wing in any way, but if you are anywhere near Knoxville Tennessee, the people in that store are top notch and will spend as much time as needed to show you your best option not the most expensive option.
