STYLE NO. 8883 : Classic Moc

Modeled after Red Wing's original work boot style, the 8883 is a 6-Inch Moc Toe featuring Concrete Rough & Tough leather, white Traction Tred rubber outsole, Norwegian-like welt, triple stitched quality and leather laces.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

We began making moc-toe boots in the 1950s for sportsmen. Farm and factory workers quickly took to the boots for their all-day comfort and lasting durability. The crescent-shaped toe stitching is inspired by the construction of moccasins originally worn by the North American Algonquin Indians. Our Classic Moc Toes have since become a legend.

Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for Oil-Tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-Tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 110+ year history.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best investment I’ve ever made. My Red Wing boots are the best pair of shoes/boots I’ve ever bought. If your iffy about spending the money on them, don’t be. They will last you for ever. If you take care of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ages like wine I'll be honest. The first week in these boots was not fun. They rubbed pretty bad, and I got blisters, even with super thick wool socks. But not to be outdone by a pair of boots, I covered my blisters in duct tape, and continued with the break in process. After the first week, the boots start to trust you, and become your friend. They started to form to my feet, and not pinch so much. The heel (my main trouble area) finally started to conform to the shape of my foot. Now, after wearing them almost every day for 10 days. They are super comfy. My feet no longer hurt, and I can stand on concrete all day without my feet getting as sore as they did with tennis shoes. These boots are a pain to break in, but the wait is worth it. They are also getting some nice character film daily wear, and they are looking better each day. Thanks to Redwing for making a boot that gets better with age.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality I have owned these boots for less than a year and the sole has begun to separate for the second time. I don't even wear them often, particularly because to get them warrantied you have to return to the store where you purchased them, and for me that is 1500 km away. So the first time the sole fell off I wasn't able to wear them for 5 months. After all the recommendations I am left extremely disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size Red Wing Moc Toe 875 I read most of the comments posted here the indication to buy a number less or half a number less. I believe this comment is valid for those who wear a lot of tennis and not boots. I use a lot of boots and I've always used the number 8.5. When I went to buy the red wing I was afraid to follow this guidance and bought 8.5 same. I even tried out an 875 number 8 and would never use it. Very, very tight. I have 3 Red Wings (875, 8138, 1907) 8.5 which is my numbering and no problem at all. I repeat, if you wear a lot of tennis shoes: the indication of lowering a number or a half number may be helpful. If you wear too many boots, I believe you can use the same numbering.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 875 This boot is tougher to break in, and the 'wide' size is much narrower than the other wide fit boots. If you want the moc boot with a wide fit, please try the Moc 8138, much softer and wider …..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soles Wear Quickly The soles on these boots is the wore out for me faster than any pair of boots/shoes I have ever owned. Also, do not try to wear them in snow unless you want to fall down, very slippery. I brought them back to the Red Wing store (in Red Wing), all they would say is we can re-sole them for $100. They do not stand by their product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soles wear to quick I love red wings and have bought them since 2008. These heritage are the comfiest. The only bad thing is for close to 300.00 the tread wear out to fast at least for me in 10 months then become uncomfortable. I wish they last longer and maybe going to try another brand

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Runs long I went to my local red wing store and was measured at an 11.5d on both feet. I went with a 10.5 and that was just right. It was hard to get my foot in and that’s what you’re after because they will soften and form. It’s been 8 months of wearing them three days a week to work. I like to give ample time before writing a review. They’re great boots. I bought a pair of 875 and 1907 at the same time. The 1907 is the way to go. Better welt, wider sole, thicker leather, comes with an insole and an extra pair of laces. The 875 seems to wear more on the sole. Maybe because it’s narrower. I work in and outdoors and they hold up well to water with an occasional oiling.
