STYLE NO. 8138 : Classic Moc

Modeled after Red Wing’s original work boot style, the 8138 is a 6-Inch Moc Toe featuring Briar Oil Slick leather, white Traction Tred rubber outsole, triple stitched quality and Goodyear welt construction.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

We began making moc-toe boots in the 1950s for sportsmen. Farm and factory workers quickly took to the boots for their all-day comfort and lasting durability. The crescent-shaped toe stitching is inspired by the construction of moccasins originally worn by the North American Algonquin Indians. Our Classic Moc Toes have since become a legend.

Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for Oil-Tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-Tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 110+ year history.

STYLE NO. 8138 : Classic Moc

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 8138 is built using the No. 23 Last:

  • Was created in the 1950s and is Red Wing’s most iconic last
  • Includes extra room in the forefoot and instep for easy entry
  • Fits a variety of foot shapes
  • Most customers buy Red Wing Heritage footwear 1/2 size smaller than their normal size
  • Trying on Red Wing Heritage footwear in a store is recommended to get the perfect fit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best.Boot.Ever I spent all summer breaking in my pair, and I have to be honest, I thought my feet would break first. I had to wear them for a limited time, each day, but through fall and winter, I am wearing them daily and have never loved a pair of shoes more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Break-In Issues Here Before purchasing my first pair of 1907's I couldn't help but read of the frequent stories of these being the toughest break-in of any boot, namely due to the stiffness of the Copper R&T leather. I wanted to report I'm roughly a week in with 10+ hours of wear time each day and I'm having ZERO issues. Sure, I can tell they're not broken in yet, especially in the foot bed, but no pain, no blisters, no rubbing. I've worn medium-thick wool socks and I feel that could attribute ot the no issues. Actually, VERY comfortable right out of the box. The quality on these from top to bottom were SIGNIFICANTLY better than I had even imagined they'd be. I'm a mostly size 11.5 in shoes/boots, but sometimes size 12 (typically Nike) and I went with the 11.5. Good decision on my part as they seem true to fit for me. I'd recommend these to ANYONE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, comfortable and very tough I’ve worn my 1907 for years now. They’ve been used for work, casual walking and on one occasion, hiking. I don’t recommend them for hiking because they get very heavy. Like feet hurt heavy but they did the job. Great work boot that’s for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't wear anything else I bought these at the Roseville, California store on December 21, 2018, and I've been wearing nothing but these boots. It took about one week for the leather around my foot to loosen up, but they're still a little hard around my Achilles. Though it doesn't even matter, because it's bearable. It feels like I'm walking on butter with every step I take, especially when they're tight around my foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost lost for words Iv'e been a longtime admirer of Redwing. For many years iv'e been following boot aficionados on social media for that 'fix' without actually owning a pair. I live in Australia where currently no proper Redwing Store is available, and in my state only one shop stock very few models. Over Christmas and New Years I flew back to Sweden where I was born and lived until moving in 2004. I knew there was a RW store in Stockholm and I didnt waste any time. Service was impeccable and I finally got to try on a pair of Moc Toe 1907's. Love at first sight! I have now worn them for three days gently breaking them in by swapping to my other shoes trying to be as gentle as I can on my feet. These boots are the business!!!! People have stopped me on the street commending my new boots. In hindsight I wish I would have bought a pair a long time ago, but also realise that the fitting service and overall superb customer service from the shop is so important for that perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You couldn’t purchase a better workbook, it just doesn’t exist. Redwing is my go to, I have been wearing them for years. The crepe sole is my preference. They are as functional as they are visually pleasing. Wouldn’t recommend any other brand, ever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looks, Good fit, Good Boots I'm about a month in on a pair of 875's. As others note, the first few days were not the most comfortable. But that's over now and they just keep getting better. I applied a heavy coat of mink oil and warmed with lovey's hair dryer to get it to soak in before I ever put them on. They look and feel great. If there was one thing I would change it would be to add a pull tab on the heel. I still struggle a bit to get them on. Other than that they are perfect. I did buy in a store so got to try them on before purchase. Normally wear a 12 1/2 wide. 12 EE is perfect fit for me. Been a while since I've had Red Wings, but won't be without them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent visit the store in NJ I waited a long time to visit the store in Cherryhill NJ and finally dropped in. What a great experience.....I haven't had my feet measured since I was 7. After a quick measure and confirmation on the computer scale the sales guy handed me a pair of boots....they fit prefect. The point to this is if you want a boot that fits....treat yourself not only to a great product but also to the experience of visiting the store.....love the boots! Thx for making the trip worth it!
