STYLE NO. 3311 : Weekender Chelsea

The 3311 Weekender Chelsea combines out-of-the-box comfort with lasting durability through the combination of a Hill sole, premium Copper Rough & Tough leather, a Comfortforce® footbed, stitchdown construction, and side goring for easy pull on and off.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

Designed for British royalty in the 1850s and popularized a century later in the Chelsea neighborhood of West London, Red Wing first offered Chelsea boots in the Australian market in the 1990s. Joining our Weekender Oxford and Chukka styles, the updated Weekender Chelsea is an off-the-clock shoe designed with a workhorse pedigree. Made alongside our other boots at Plant 2 in Red Wing, Minnesota, the Weekender Chelsea is built with premium leather sourced from our tannery, S.B. Foot Tanning Company, using a stitchdown construction that can be resoled for years of service.

Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather. Oil-Tanned leather is a very durable and vivid leather.

Oil-Tanned Leather

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for Oil-Tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-Tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 110+ year history.

STYLE NO. 3311 : Weekender Chelsea

A new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the Full Grain Leather upper, Leather footboard and Cork Midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.

The 3311 is built using the No. 60 Last:

  • This new last is created for the Weekender collection, stitch down construction
  • The last is designed to have a removable footbed
  • Most customers buy Red Wing Heritage footwear 1/2 size smaller than their normal size
  • Trying on Red Wing Heritage footwear in a store is recommended to get the perfect fit

It takes more than 230 steps to hand craft each pair of Red Wing Shoes but it only takes three steps to keep them clean, conditioned and protected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot The boot like the other reviews said, takes about two-three weeks to break in. I end up bringing mine to the local redwing store to have them stretched for a faster break in. I also applied mink oil;which helps with the breaking in and protection. I wear these boots regularly for work in dress pants and casual wear with pants and they looks awesome. I would highly recommend these boots to anybody!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot, worth the money! Like any quality leather shoe they where uncomfortable till I broke them in. I bought mine 1/2 a size smaller since they run a little big. I wear these every day for work, love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boots, awful break in period These boots are fantastic! They look great and the craftmanship is amazing. The outsole is light and well constructed, makes walking easy and the boots aren’t heavy like most others. They fit perfectly! The only small drawback is the break in period isn’t the best. I recommend treating them and also playing with them when they’re off (bending and kneading) to help with the break in. Can’t wait to buy another pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boot The stitching on the top of the foot is a little uncomfortable but it goes away after about 5 wears other than that it’s a very comfortable boot. Oh, they’re very hard to stay clean but i like them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Boot for Everyday Use! These boots are great! They look really good on and I have received compliments every time I wear them. The footbed is supportive and I can move and stand on them all day without discomfort. Do yourself a favor and get some of these!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE Let me say first, I love Redwing boots. I have multiple pairs and I wear a pair of BRN XP's everyday at work.I have been waiting to write a review, hoping it would be positive. But these Chelsea boots are really uncomfortable. They are wicked tight at the top, where the stitching runs. I've been wearing them hoping they would break in like my Iron Rangers, but they won't loosen up. They are true to size and the rest of the boot fits properly. It's just the top....I am close to giving up on them and throwing them to the back of the closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent daily use boot These are not the boots you wear to your board meetings and they won't hold up to heavy outdoor use, but if you mix light fieldwork and office work, you can cover 80% of your usage. They are lightweight, break in has been minimal and the fit was perfect (I ordered 1/2 size down as recommended). It appears the initial notes about fast wearing soles may have been mitigated with a harder rubberized material applied to the tread because I've put a hard month in them (minimum 4X / week) and see only minor impact. I would like to see the cost drop to better compete with alternatives, but sometimes you have to buy once and cry once. These have fit far better than Blundstones, which I threw away after a year due to lasting discomfort, and I'm sure I'll see these boots on the feet of a few coveting friends soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from squeaky boot the leather used to line these boots has a high polish and is relatively hard. this elicits a squeak with every step. it’s a shame as the boots really do look great. FWIW this is not something i’ve experienced in the 4 other pairs of RWs i own.
